“Go ask Alice” is a diary of an anonymous girl. The diary is edited by Beatrice Sparks.
The main character in the book is Alice. She is 15 years old and don’t know what she wants in her life. Alice is just a normal teenage girl. She is a happy person, but sometimes she gets a bit depressed over her weight and family things.
Alice’s self-confidence isn’t at the top. She thinks she is fat and wants to loose weight.
At school she have good friends and she is mostly pleased with her life. Her mood is very swingy. Some days Alice is very happy to be alive and she gets along well with her family and parents, and other times she wants to lay down and die. One day they have to move and Alice changes totally. Often she has bad days and then she needs her family to support her, but they don’t always give her the support she wants. Then she gets mad at them and yells.
Some day at a party Alice tries drugs for the first time. She love being stoned and she is trapped in the mess. After a while she managed to quit drugs and her grades at school is rising. She lives a happy life and she isn’t feeling so depressed anymore.
Later her old gang is haunting her and tries to make her start again. After her grandparent’s death, Alice struggles with drugs but the temptation is to big. She gets mixed up in a lot of troubles and her family doesn’t like the new side of her. She tries very hard to quit and when she met a new friend at collage, something’s starts to change for the better in her life. This friend tries to get her clean and is able to do anything for her, but when he is going home in their holiday she gets a relapse.
Alice’s nightmare started when she was babysitting. Someone in her old gang had put drugs in her chocolate shake and she starts to see worms crawling on her skin and she is seeing things that are not there. She started to scratch her skin.
The next day she woke up at the hospital. Some of her nails were broken and her skin was all scratched up. She stilled felt worms crawling on her. Later she was placed at a mental hospital. Everything went badly for Alice after the hospital. Three months later she took an overdose and died.
We all know Alice is a girl who struggles with a lot of things, but she often has positive moments in her life. She is a little depressed, but she gets seriously depressed when her grandparents die. Her family can’t come through to her and help her. Her biggest mistake is when she gets mixed up in the wrong gang with drugs and much partying. Sadly she died of overdose.
